The beauty of what we do, well, one of the beauties of what we do, is that there are no rules. We can do what we do wherever we want and whenever we want. So when SXSW came to a conclusion, when they kicked us out of the Austin Convention Center (heads up, it costs like 300 bucks to pull a vehicle out of there), told us to go home and what-not, well we decided to stay. We’d only had Taco Deli once since we’d gotten there, and there was still two days and nights of merriment to be made, so yeah, we stuck around, for sure.

Turns out that was a good call. Because we got our taco-fix, and we also got to record some great music. This day’s session was supposed to be for Phranchyze, but the way our situation works, if someone else shows up and they can play beautiful music, then they get to jam. So we were introduced to Arum Rae of the band White Dress by Phran’s manager, Kris, who also manages Gary Clark Jr.. We didn’t need to hear a recording of her, figured if Gary Clark Jr.’s manager said she rocked then…

So she grabbed one of Gary’s guitars out of their management office, tuned it up, and yeah, it was a really, really wonderful way to finish out our week in Austin. Arum’s voice is spectacular, and words like spectacular should only be reserved for use on things that are in actuality one of a kind and spectacular. So if I’m saying that, and if I’m saying that I value the value of words very much, then you should believe me when I say these songs are worth your time.
