We’re getting deep into our SXSW catalog. By now you have an idea of how much talent we saw there, and how many great songs were played. The exact number falls somewhere between 100 and 120. That’s a lot of songs to record in a six day span. A lot of memories. Yet, when it’s all said and done and we’re back home recanting the excursion there tend to be certain moments, certain songs, that stand out on top of the rest. If you play “I Want Blood” and are able to listen to it just once, then hats off to you. I have not been able to turn it off since SXSW.

For those who have never been to a Jam in the Van shoot, when a band hops out of the Jam Van we usually have their session playing back over the PA system while they’re packing up their gear. Sometimes, if you’re watching the band come out the side door and the music starts at just the right moment, and the song is of the proper caliber, the affect is pretty epic. Such was the case when Water Liars finished up their set in Austin, and “I Want Blood” came on the speakers. Everything in that moment slowed down, and I was watching life through the song and the moment that I was then a part of seemed much bigger than it actually was. Maybe that memory is why I’ve had that song on repeat for the last few weeks. Or maybe it’s just because it’s a damn good song. Either way, I hope you like it too…
