The first time we shot a Jam in the Van session it was a big mess. I think we only got one of the three songs the band played properly recorded. The others we lost forever, left only for Jam Van lore… Yet I remember how excited we were that day. We’d done it. We’d built this colorful box with our bare hands, and gotten the equipment and crew together, and we got a band to come and hop into our RV and play music in our back yard. That to us was really exciting at the time.

As days and months have passed, new excitements have come our way. It’s never the same excitement though, never just like that first time. So you make new firsts, and you try and recapture that rush. Our first trip, our first time using solar panels (a brilliant idea I must say), our first time at High Sierra Music Festival, our first band there. That was Shook Twins.

They woke us up on Friday morning, bright eyed with excitement we were. Because everything can be special, if you make it like that, if you let it. So while getting caught up in things like YouTube numbers and social media can make one yearn for the simplicity of the earlier days, when just the fact that you were doing something was enough, the world of music offers plenty of new chances to forget all the important things, and focus on the things you want to feel. When you hear amazing music, it’s always like it’s that first time, it really is, and I take you to task to turn up the speakers, take in this wonderful band, and experience something that’ll make you feel good, just because, just because…
