Three years ago we took a battered and beaten Jam Van 1.0 to Austin, TX for SXSW.  We didn’t know the first thing about the event.  We slept ten of us in a basement and a couple in a backyard.  We’d arranged to be located inside of the Austin Convention Center at the festivals trade show.  It was basically like a hangar filled with musical equipment company booths and reps.  It was not a place for a Jam Van.  Yet, after an arduous journey that involved numerous breakdowns and  many moments of questioning our decision to attend, we were just happy to be there and be filming.  We cranked out an amount of sessions that at the time was an absurd number for us, we headed home a bit under the weather from the conditions we’d stayed under and the amount of work we put ourselves through, but we were happy because we did what we had come to do.

Jam Van 1.0 would die on its way home from that journey, but she did what she had to get done.  Our first SXSW paved the way for what would happen over the next couple of years.  We can’t call it a success yet, but we got a new van, we’ve been all over the country, and eventually, we made it back to Austin.  We did SXSW correct in 2014, and we’ll do it correct from here on out.  It would have never happened without Jam Van 1.0 and that ill fated first run down to Texas, and we wouldn’t want it to have happened any other way.  You learn from your mistakes, and they make you into what you are, and what we are now is pretty happy to still be doing what we’re doing.  So that may not say much about the band you’re about to hear on this session, but they’re our final release from SXSW 2014 and so I felt it apt to talk about the journey that brought us to this point.  So enjoy the rock and roll, but come back for the ride…
