In 2005 the Plain White T’s released their hit single “Hey There Delilah.” I was 21 years old and in my final semester of college. At the time I generally had a poor grasp on what I would be doing 24 hours in the future, let alone ten years down the line. Needless to say, Jam in the Van was not part of my tentative ten year plan. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that in 2005 I was more lost than I had and have ever been, in terms of what in the hell I was going to do with my life.

I can’t say for sure, but it’s safe to assume, that when their song became a huge success, the Plain White T’s had a firm grasp on what it was they were going to do with their lives. They were a successful band, they by all bystander accounts had made it, or had sort of made it, so a certain extent. They were going to tour and make music and ride that wave until it broke. That’s what bands do, right?

Well here we are, 2015, and thinking of all of the ups and downs, and right and wrong turns that my life has taken in the past ten years is overwhelming. That’s a long time, a lot of days. So one can only imagine what twists and turns have taken place in the lives of the members of the Plain White T’s over that same course of time. Inevitably there must have been good times, bad times, happy times, sad times. Ten years is a long time. I’m no longer in college, the Plain White T’s have new music. We crossed paths in Austin, TX. Who knows what the next ten years holds. Thankfully from here out I’ll always have cameras rolling nearby…
