We met Richard Love in 2015 when he won our SXSW Talent Search Contest with his old band, Love and the Zealous. He became a great friend to everyone at Jam in the Van and we’ve watched his musical journey take him from Olney, TX to Northern California, where he’s fallen in as the lead singer of this funky bunch, Object Heavy. When he gave a holler and said his new group was ready to Jam in the Van, we said when can you drive down and make it happen. They made the trek shortly after, hopped in The Van and funked it up, and Richard claims he even caught me grooving in the back during their performance… there is however no video evidence of that, but we do give our seal of approval.
