When Lukas Nelson hopped out of the Jam Van and back into the Quincy, CA sun, he was met by two young blonde ladies. One was a bit more striking than the other, but they both stood out amongst a very crunchy crowd. They rushed up to Lukas with a bottle of champagne and said “hey, are you taking off? We’ve got champagne.”
Lukas paused, his lip curled in a bit of a smile, and then he replied in his slow southern drawl “well I was going to take off, but now I might be sticking around for a little while.” Y’all should have seen those girls’ eyes light up. Oh to be a rock star, right? Oh to have the ability to swipe your hands over some strings and make people feel things. That’s damn cool, and these boys carry it well.
You can’t teach cool. It’s just something that is. Now that’s not to say that you can’t learn it either, because you certainly can. So learn you something right here, one song at a time. Chances are when you hear one, you’ll be sticking around for the rest.
