Downtown LA used to be a full on dump. I went to school there for a few years, and as soon as class would let out I would bust it back to the beach to get away from that neighborhood. Here we are now, almost a decade later, and the area has come alive after years of slow development. Yes, Skid Row is still a few blocks from the building that JITV now calls home, and yes, it is still a scary area, but there’s a lot of beautiful stuff down there now too. There’s a lot of art. It’s kind of like when you see a flower growing in asphalt, beauty in dirt, if you will. So with that analogy in mind, we present to you this session from Lo Brite. Undoubtedly a very pretty flower that grew out of a seed five blocks from Skid Row.
