If you haven’t already noticed, we catalog sessions on our site by location and genre. In doing this The question of where the session took place is far easier to simplify into the checking of a box than that of what “genre” of music other than “music” artists and their songs fall into. We want every band on this site to have its own unique sound and identity. So sometimes that unique sound doesn’t fit inside of just one box and sometimes it doesn’t fit in any of our boxes, or a box at all.

Take for instance Julia Nunes. Where should we file the offerings of this ukulele wielding songstress? It doesn’t really fit in “Folk,” which is where a ukulele might naturally take your line of thinking. I’m hesitant to throw it in the catch-all that can be “Rock and Roll.” So it’s going by default into the other bail-out slot, “Indie.” Which feels as wrong to do as it sounds. If you think this to be a mistake, and have a worthy solution, please do write us and correct it. We’re only placing it here so that it will be logged in three places on the website and hopefully gets an increased chance of being watched over and over again, which is really all that matters, regardless of what wonderful folder you find it inside of…
