High Sierra Music Festival is a no shirt, no shoes, come on in type of affair.  The wilder the better.  Beer is a balanced breakfast and exercise is rolling a joint before you swim in the river.  This year The Van was set just inside the gates to this magical place, and so for four wonderful days it was the first thing that folks saw when they crossed the threshold into Neverland.

While that sounds ideal, it’s also a lot of pressure.  We had to uphold to the High Sierra standards.  We had to be just as heady if not headier than everything else inside those gates, because we were the first thing people were going to see and hear.  In the end I’d say we did a pretty good job.  Everyone seemed satisfied with our performance, but maybe never moreso than when Greensky Bluegrass was in The Van.  The crowd surrounding was thick, dancers, hula-hoopers, and spectators galore, all with beautiful smiles to match the beautiful blue sky, and the even prettier bluegrass…
