I remember back what must have been about a decade ago getting tossed from the Echo during the second song of a Built to Spill show for smoking a joint on the smoking porch. So it was cool to pull up to the same venue for Grateful Shred’s 420 event and have the security not care about folks smoking copious amounts of pot in the parking lot. A cannabis company was the event sponsor, they set up like a living room rolling den situation out there. It was a pretty groovy party, saw one dude try to get back into the event after having fallen flat on his face in the street and needing paramedics’ attention. He just wanted to see the Shred maaan. Hopefully he gets in next year… anyways, we’re glad California keeps upping its cool.
