It was cold up in Monterey. Save for possibly one very wet Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, Cali Roots 2015 was by far the coldest event that the Jam Van has ever participated in. However, for the most part, it seemed that I was the only person huddled up in five layers of clothing and bundled in blankets. A good amount of festival patrons and artists were actually walking around in shorts, tank tops, and flip flops, as if we were at the beach. I know that I don’t have the most natural insulation, but I didn’t realize that having a little extra ham on the bones could keep you that much warmer. Or, in the alternative, these folks were just really warmed up by the vibes that the festival was generating. That’s probably a thing. I can’t scientifically prove that they were actually warmed by vibes, but I’m pretty sure it’s a thing. I do know that I was shivering under a dirty blanket listening to the Dirty Heads, but I didn’t want to leave and go to my hotel room. That had to be vibes, because generally if I’m cold, I’m going inside. So who’s to say that vibes can’t warm you up too? Give it a shot…
