Music has been a part of Althea’s life since the day she was born and was christened after one of her parents’ favorite Grateful Dead songs. Growing up, there was hardly a minute that music from every genre imaginable wasn’t playing in her house. She learned how to play “Purple Haze” on her dad’s guitar, when it was a full 6 inches taller than she was, and she has since taken up the electric bass, upright bass, ukulele, piano, and accordion. She played lead guitar and vocals in a 4-piece band, performs solo, and also frequently collaborates with many local and national musicians.
